As a Display Structural and Thermal Engineer at Meta Reality Labs, you will lead structural and thermal design and simulation for advanced display modules in VR, wearables, and exciting new products. You'll join a world-class display engineering team, developing products from concept to mass production. This role requires extensive cross-functional collaboration, proactive problem-solving, knowledge of structural and thermal simulations, and expertise in engineering principles and material properties. Responsibilities

Lead structural and thermal design for VR and wearable display modules

Develop physics-based structural and thermal simulation models to drive design and failure analysis, using CAD, FEA, and CFD software

Drive display module designs for enhanced structural/thermal performance, ergonomics, form factor, and weight

Identify program risks, create simulation/validation plans, and drive FACA through close collaboration with cross-functional teams

Validate display module and system-level structural and thermal performance via rapid prototyping

Explore, validate, and integrate next generation display and thermal technologies

Lead collaboration with system PD, system thermal, mechanical, electrical, and optical teams

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, thermal engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

Experience with structural and thermal simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, FloEFD, COMSOL, etc)

Understanding of engineering first principles, material properties, heat transfer, and thermal/fluid sciences

Experience in design of experiments, rapid prototyping, empirical testing, and model correlation

Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on finite element analysis or thermal, or related field

Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Julia) for model development and automation

Familiarity in using AI tools to accelerate product design and development

Experience developing consumer electronics

Familiarity with advanced thermal materials (e.g., graphite spreaders, aerogels, heatpipes, vapor chamber)

Compensation

Public Compensation:

$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits Industry:
