We’re seeking an Architecture Finance Director to partner with the Office Leader and Management Team in driving financial strategy, performance, and operational excellence across our studios. This role leads budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, and financial analysis, ensuring clarity and accountability as we pursue bold design ambitions. The position may oversee multiple studios and carries both operational and fiduciary responsibility. This role supports the people and processes behind purposeful design, contributing to spaces that shape daily life and bring people together in meaningful ways. What You’ll Do

Partner with office leadership in the preparation of strategic planning and operating budget (and quarterly updates) and participate in the evaluation and implementation of strategic initiatives. Monitor monthly results, conduct financial analysis, and provide recommendations for improved performance. As a member of the Office Management Team (OMT), initiate or support solutions, profitability enhancements and process improvements to meet office goals. Coordinate reporting of performance variances to contribution, earnings, and cash. Organize and lead a project finance team with the resources, skills, and abilities to best serve the office’s needs. Recruit, hire, onboard, develop, and retain staff. Responsible for all aspects of Career Planning and Development including goal setting, coaching, performance evaluation, and compensation review. Lead office month-end reporting and revenue recognition activities that adhere to the revenue recognition policy. Maintain the integrity of financial data to produce accurate reporting and projections through quality assurance and cost control methods. Consult with office leadership, project managers, delivery, and project finance team to provide an accurate representation of earnings on our projects by maintaining current project backlog, reserve reviews, reporting, and revenue projections. Provide financial management guidance to pursuit, project management, and finance teams to ensure appropriate setup and delivery of contractual business obligations in contracting, cash management, subcontract management, change management, cost management, and financial controls. Engage in the pursuit process to advantageously position HNTB for successful project delivery. Utilize knowledge of contract terms to influence favorable proposals that optimize project cash and profitability. Provide analysis, strategic planning, and resources to execute HNTB's Sophisticated Approach to Cash during discovery and planning phases, including strategies for assessing and optimizing client profitability. Participate in the office way of contract review and negotiations in accordance with firm processes and policies. Drive successful contract outcomes and contribute to contracting strategies that improve profitability. Champion gross margin performance analysis and payment/compensation term reviews to maximize cash performance. Champion office cash management goals, ensuring effective cash collections and timely resolution of delinquent billings. Provide financial forecasting, modeling, and analysis to guide office and project teams in adhering to standardized business processes for financial discipline throughout the client/project lifecycle. Act as an office liaison with the cash management organization to achieve collaborative results. Collaborate with office leadership to achieve budgeted overhead expenses. Analyze adherence to non-labor overhead and advise on new strategies or initiatives to manage overhead and maintain sound business practices. Performs other duties as assigned. What You’ll Need

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of financial, project accounting/analysis, or related experience 2 years of people management experience 8 or more direct and indirect line finance reports; Administration positions are excluded In lieu of education, 14 years of relevant experience and 2 years of people management experience What We Prefer
