Burns & McDonnell is looking for an experienced Senior Process or Mechanical engineer to help us wow our clients in the specialty chemical and consumer products arena. This position is created to enhance our capability to service clients in these areas. As an employee owner (EO), we support our clients in designing and executing projects that deliver results to them and their customers. This EO will help craft the design approach on chemically based production systems for our clients while working closely with other required disciplines to deliver a complete project package. Lead process design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for mechanical systems, aligned with owner company needs.

Produce mass balance analyses, PFDs, P&IDs, general assembly drawings, material take-offs, and equipment/construction bid packages.

Prepare process chemical specifications and data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.

Review equipment vendor drawings; interface with suppliers, clients and other engineering disciplines, detailers and designers.

Apply expert knowledge of process concepts, practices, codes and procedures within the process engineering services industry.

Apply knowledge to complex projects and develop non-standard design solutions.

Participate in project scheduling, scope, budget staffing planning and construction planning. Responsible for effective management of change orders.

Assist with the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to meet financial targets.

Quality review production drawings and related data to verify corrections across CAD-related software.

Quality review construction administration, coordinate with field personnel to resolve design-related issues and inspect process systems.

Lead field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.

Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.

Build relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors; develop new business opportunities and ensure customer satisfaction targets are met.

Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.

Provide leadership and mentorship to the process engineering practice; guide less experienced engineers.

Ensure QA/QC process adherence and effective communication with other engineering disciplines.

Comply with company and site safety policies.

Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or related degree from ABET-accredited program with 7 years process engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.

Bachelor Degree in Chemical or related Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited program with successful FE exam and 7 years process engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.

Master Degree in Chemical Engineering with 6 years process engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.

Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques and process design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).

Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite); process simulation software (Hysys/Aspen, HTRI) preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience leading discipline design for large projects and delegating tasks; ability to lead execution and resolve issues in a team environment.

Demonstrated critical thinking and quantitative problem-solving abilities.

Strong attention to detail, facilitation, teamwork, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

Ability to travel.

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Compensation

$155,000.00-240,000.00 Yearly The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations and is based on factors including education, qualifications, prior experience and work location. The total annual compensation package may include a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program. Benefits
