Overview
A client in the San Diego area is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Rancho Bernardo. The successful candidate will report to the Electrical Technologies Sr. Manager of High-Speed Digital and will engage in the engineering support and development of satellites and space systems, high-energy laser systems, advanced aerospace and electro-optic sensors, space-based optical communications, and nuclear thermal propulsion. The role involves hardware and circuit board design leadership for concept development, prototype design, integration, and test of high-power processing and controls solutions across product lines and technology areas, including high-power motor drives, power conditioning systems, high-energy laser systems, battery systems, optical beam pointing and control, and signal/image processing. The position also includes leadership responsibilities for a project/program and oversight of less experienced staff. Responsibilities
Lead hardware and circuit board design for space/aerospace applications from concept through prototype development, integration, and testing. Participate in the design of high-power processing and controls solutions for multiple technology areas (e.g., motor drives, power conditioning, laser systems, battery systems, sensors, optical communications, small satellites, propulsion, beam pointing and control, signal processing). Provide planning, direction, and oversight to project teams and junior staff; assume lead responsibilities as needed. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams in the development and production lifecycle; guide designs through development and into production. Qualifications
Eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Bachelor’s Degree with 12 years of experience, Master’s Degree with 10 years of experience, or PhD with 7 years of experience. Proven lead experience and comfort with leadership responsibilities. Experience designing circuit boards/electronics for space/aerospace; expertise in electrical system command and data-handling architecture; high-speed digital circuit design; embedded processing and controls; hardware systems including digital, analog, and RF; experience guiding designs from development through production; familiarity with DoD technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR). Preferred skills: Altium, PADS, SPICE, HyperLynx, ANSYS SI, Atlassian Tools, Microsoft Project. Experience with high-reliability aerospace electronics and electrical systems; unmanned space systems and satellites (micro, CubeSat, small-sat, >500 kg). Equal Opportunity
