What You Will Be Doing

This position will be on the Software Development Team, which is responsible for supporting the Records Management system, Crash and Citation Reporting, Computer Aided Dispatch, as well as a variety of internal and public applications. All positions will provide support for these existing applications as well as develop new and replacing existing applications. The Technologies And Processes Used Include .NET Technologies: C#, .NET framework, .NET Core, Blazor Databases Technologies: SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS Web Services: RESTful APIs, SOAP, OpenAPI, Azure, IIS Development Tools: Visual Studio/Rider, SSMS/DataGrip, Azure DevOps Collaboration & Processes: Agile/Kanban boards, version control (Git), Pull requests/code reviews Project Management & Analysis: Business analysis, requirements gathering Our Organization, Mission, And Culture

The Division of Statewide Services provides technical and specialized services to the Department of Public Safety and to law enforcement, the public, and partner agencies. Information Services develops and maintains all computerized resources for the Department of Public Safety's information systems and supports 5,000+ users statewide. The Application Development Team manages full life-cycle software development and data reporting capabilities; supports statewide products for law enforcement information, data distribution, data aggregation, and data reporting. The position is located at DPS\'s Anchorage Headquarters at 5700 Tudor Road. Subject to HR and division approval, hybrid telework options may be available after probationary period. What We Are Looking For

Software Engineering: Knowledge of software engineering design and development methodologies, paradigms, and tools; software life cycle; software reusability; and software reliability metrics. Information Assurance: Knowledge of methods and procedures to protect information systems and data by ensuring their availability, authentication, confidentiality, and integrity. Technical Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, analyze, and identify system malfunctions to determine cause. Technical Documentation: Knowledge of procedures for developing technical and operational support documentation. Systems Testing and Evaluation: Knowledge of principles, methods, and tools for analyzing and developing testing procedures and identifying critical operational issues. Analyst/Programmer 2: One year of computer programming experience in a recognized language. One year of experience in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer system user support specialty. Analyst/Programmer 3: Two years of computer programming experience in a recognized language. One year of this experience in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty. Analyst/Programmer 4: Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized language. One year of this experience in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty. Substitution: A bachelor\'s degree with a major in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for one year of required experience. An associate\'s degree may substitute for nine months of required experience. Special Note: Coursework must be completed within three months of hire to qualify for substitution; conditional offers may be extended pending proof of completion.
