About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join its team. The COO will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative and operational functions, with a focus on enhancing internal operations, particularly in the area of information technology. This role involves rethinking organizational structure, identifying opportunities for operational improvement, and implementing systems to optimize internal processes. The successful candidate will work to bring staff into closer collaboration, increase organization-wide communication, and ensure that policies and procedures are codified. Additionally, the COO will have the opportunity to advise member societies on their operations and will be involved in designing and supporting programs.

Candidates for the COO position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and a minimum of 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations within the nonprofit sector. The role requires experience in strategic planning, operational leadership, and a strong background in financial management. The ideal candidate will have the ability to drive operational efficiency, build collaborative relationships, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in MS Office, CRM systems, and project management software is essential. An interest in the humanities and familiarity with American academic culture is a plus. The COO will be expected to lead and manage diverse teams, set priorities, and manage multiple projects while being adaptable to the needs of the organization.
