Hospice Companionship Volunteers play a vital role in supporting patients and families by offering presence, comfort, and companionship. Volunteers provide emotional and social connection, helping patients feel valued, heard, and less alone during their hospice journey. We have patients all around Houston, so there are opportunities near you. Key Responsibilities Visit patients in their homes, or nursing facilities to provide companionship and emotional support.

Engage in activities such as reading, playing cards or games, listening to music, watching TV, or simply sharing conversation.

Offer a calming presence through quiet companionship or life reminiscing.

Respect patient privacy, dignity, and cultural values.

Document visits according to guidelines and communicate observations to volunteer coordinator.

Qualifications & Requirements Must be 18 years or older.

Complete background check, and hospice volunteer training.

Strong interpersonal and listening skills, with compassion and sensitivity to patients and families.

Dependable and flexible in meeting assigned visits.

Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Time Commitment Flexible scheduling based on patient needs and volunteer availability

Typically 1-2 hours per week
