General Summary
The Staff Accountant, Revenue Accounting is responsible for the timely and accurate generation of revenue recognition, account reconciliations, as well as contract reviews. This position will also process invoices, in addition to the creation and application of credit memos. This position will require ongoing account analysis, maintenance of customer records within the billing and / or issues relevant to account status. Organizational Relationship
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Revenue Accounting, Revenue Accounting interacts with all departments, Area Managing Directors and Regional Directors. Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and maintain billing and revenue recognition structures within the Recurring Contract Billing (“RCB”) system according to initial contractual agreements, CPI increases, steps and subsequent contract changes. Analyze contractual documents for revenue recognition and compliance with company policy for invoicing and accounting purposes. Set up and maintain billing structures utilizing PHG’s customized reservations billing system; process, review and report on monthly reservations invoicing. Update and maintain monthly group sales billing as well as monthly reporting. Process / Post transactions for invoice and credit memo generation. Assist with the calculation and processing of revenue and expense journal entries. Assign general ledger account codes and set up deferral accounting. Analyze revenue reports for missing or erroneous items. Perform reconciliations and analysis related to revenue and balance sheet accounts. Validate and record credits issued against and according to contract terms. Handle miscellaneous billing and AR inquiries received. Assist with other Revenue Accounting tasks and projects as assigned. Assist contracts department with contract termination requests. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Business required. 1-2 years of relevant work experience Disciplined, structured and effective with the ability to prioritize accounts and work to targets. Strong customer service (internal customers) and interpersonal skills. Exceptional accuracy, analytical and problem-solving skills. Aspiration to be involved in all aspects of accounting in order to learn and improve skills. Contemplative and proactive approach in monitoring, evaluating and recommending improvements related to accounting procedures. Strong business judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Strong Excel skills Microsoft Dynamics GP or Business Central knowledge a plus Working Conditions
Working environment is a class-A professional office building. Office space is beautifully as well as functionally decorated including all required technology tools. Employee is seated most of the time. This role follows a hybrid working model, with a base out of our Newport Beach office. Associates are generally expected to work from the office 2-3 days per week, allowing for a balance of in-person collaboration and flexible remote working. PHR Required Training
