Overview
Job Title: EMC Storage Platform Engineer Location: PLEASANTON, CA Experience Required: 8–10 years Base pay range: $55.00/hr - $60.00/hr Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced EMC Storage Platform Engineer with strong expertise in Dell Storage Resource Manager (SRM) ViPR for monitoring and reporting storage infrastructure in a multi-site deployment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reporting of storage systems in a multi-vendor environment, ensuring adherence to KP standards, policies, and security requirements.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain Dell SRM ViPR storage monitoring and reporting solutions in a multi-site, federated reporting environment.
Install, configure, and schedule SRM servers, collectors, and reports.
Perform upgrades, testing, and patch management for SRM software.
Collect and analyze storage metrics from multi-vendor systems including Dell/EMC Symmetrix, Isilon, Unity, NetApp NAS, Brocade Switches, and IBM SAN.
Conduct capacity planning and performance management of the SRM ecosystem.
Ensure compliance with KP standards and security policies.
Design and generate recurring reports to meet specific business needs.
Deliver reports via multiple mechanisms (SFTP, email, etc.).
Provide multi-tier storage reporting (array, volume, storage group, LUN, fileshare, protocol level).
Server-to-LUN mapping (using LUN WWN) and data reduction metrics (deduplication, compression).
Shared LUNs/VMDKs, snapshots, and storage utilization trends.
Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues within the SRM ecosystem.
Investigate invalid or anomalous data in reports and take corrective action.
Collaborate with storage, security, cloud, compute, and network teams to resolve technical issues.
Open and manage service tickets with Dell SRM support for product-related issues (e.g., bad metrics, firmware compatibility).
Required Skills & Knowledge
Strong expertise in Dell EMC SRM ViPR (Storage Infrastructure Monitoring & Reporting).
Hands-on knowledge of SAN (Storage Area Networks), NAS (Network Attached Storage), Fibre Channel Networks (fabrics), Cloud ecosystems, Linux/Unix, Windows, and AIX systems and their storage usage.
In-depth understanding of storage metrics and configurations, capacity planning and performance tuning, deduplication, compression, snapshots, and LUN management.
Experience with multi-vendor storage environments (EMC, NetApp, IBM, Brocade).
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
