The Director, Product Security leads the product security posture for the Dispensing platform in the Medication Management Solutions Business Unit and partners with R&D, Enterprise Security, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and business leaders to deliver secure products across the lifecycle. The Director, Product Security is responsible for BD’s product security posture for the Dispensing platform, reporting to the VP, R&D, Product Security. This role will guide the PSO to deliver best-in-class secure products in compliance with global regulatory requirements and will work closely with cross-functional teams across corporate, regional, and BU levels to advance strategic priorities. Role Responsibilities
Leadership & Management:
Build and lead a high-performing team to manage multiple projects and programs, provide strategic planning and direction for the platform, and develop product security resources’ leadership skills in program management and cross-functional collaboration. Technology Leadership:
Provide strategic guidance on architecture reviews, threat modeling, security technologies, risk assessments, and capability maturity. Align the product security program with BD’s enterprise posture and goals, and drive progress toward these goals. Operational Management:
Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and process improvement to ensure efficient security engineering operations. Cross Functional Collaboration:
Lead adoption of product security framework activities in partnership with cross-functional teams; oversee security documentation for product launches; champion innovative security processes and end-of-life planning for legacy platforms; enable End-to-End Lifecycle Management of products with R&D, PMO, Quality and Regulatory. Stakeholder Management:
Build trust with company leaders, act as an internal security consultant, communicate risks and mitigation plans to Senior Management, and engage BD leadership, customers, and external agencies as needed. Performance Metrics:
Be accountable for key performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Other:
May perform other duties as required. Qualifications
Undergraduate or graduate degree in cybersecurity, computer science, software engineering, or related technical field; advanced business or technical degree preferred. Ten (10)+ years of professional business experience. Five (5)+ years leading teams and people. Three (3)+ years in a Product Security and/or Application Development Security function in a regulated environment. Experience with connected products, SDLC, security automation, risk mitigation, incident response, and supply chain security preferred. Certifications such as CCNA, CCIE, CISSP, CISM, GIAC, MCSE, CCSP, CEH or equivalent preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate sophisticated technical challenges to non-technical audiences. Ability to align business strategies with technology solutions to mitigate risk. Solid understanding of the medical device and healthcare IT space. Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong presentation and communication capabilities, including senior leadership interactions. Strong collaboration and conflict resolution skills; ability to drive technical and business discussions. Ability to lead execution on multiple concurrent efforts and maintain an execution-focused attitude. Technical Skillset
Experience with connected products, SDLC, security automation, risk mitigation, incident response, and supply chain security. Understanding of cybersecurity attacks, threat analysis, ethical hacking, and system auditing; experience with incident management. Experience navigating product cybersecurity requirements for 510(k) and PMA-regulated products. Relocation assistance may be available. This role is ideally suited for candidates able to work with colleagues in the US Pacific Time Zone.
