Overview
Executive Director, Quality & Service Engineering — Hyundai Motor America. Lead the development and implementation of strategies to achieve an excellent product experience for owners of Hyundai and Genesis brand vehicles in the United States, measured by indicators such as Consumer Reports, JD Power Initial Quality, Vehicle Dependability & CSI, warranty problem rate, and other external and internal reviews. From HMNA/HMA, provide guidance and support for similar groups at Hyundai/Genesis Canada and Hyundai Motor Mexico where opportunities arise.
What you will do
Lead the development and execution of strategies to ensure excellent product and accessory quality and a high-quality customer experience.
Recruit, train, motivate, and retain a capable team aligned with Hyundai Way Core Values.
Manage QA Engineers to represent the “Voice of the Customer” during design, development, and post-launch.
Collaborate with HMC Quality, R&D, and Service to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Drive achievement of top rankings in Consumer Reports, JD Power (VDS, IQS, TXI), and other third-party ratings.
Partner with HMC and Factory Quality to meet warranty problem rate goals and optimize warranty costs.
Support Aftersales and field teams to resolve technical issues and improve fix accuracy.
Assist Customer Care with technical inquiries, case escalations, and buyback prevention.
Oversee engineers monitoring service repair effectiveness and escalate issues for resolution.
Work with global teams to update repair manuals, diagnostics, TSBs, and tools to improve Fix Right First Time.
Support efforts to enhance customer satisfaction through maintenance optimization and lower ownership costs.
Lead Data Analytics team to improve quality forecasting and early issue detection.
Manage Initial Quality Assurance team to ensure vehicle processing standards and identify safety/quality issues.
Audit vehicle processing centers and oversee port campaign deployment.
Participate in H/GMA technical committee to review issues and recommend actions.
Coordinate with HMA AfterSales to improve dealer service satisfaction.
Engage cross-functional teams across HMA, HMC, and GMA to support quality objectives.
Serve as primary interface to HMC Quality and Manufacturing teams.
What you will bring to the role
Must be a high school graduate.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; Master’s Degree a plus.
Fifteen or more years of automotive engineering, manufacturing, quality, or service experience.
Experience managing a distributed and technical workforce; 5+ years of supervisory experience required.
Quality method expertise and ability to develop strategy to tactical/operational capability.
Strong cross-functional coordination (HMC QD, HATCI, NAQC, Manufacturing, Sales, Regions, Dealers, etc.).
Strong organizational development and leadership skills.
Computer proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, database reporting, etc.).
Understanding of dealership operations.
What Hyundai can offer you
Compensation Range: $215,000 - $265,000 annual base salary
Monthly Hyundai/Genesis vehicle lease allowance (including insurance and maintenance)
