Job Summary
The Senior Cable Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the development, optimization, and support of cable manufacturing processes that integrate into next-generation complex electro-mechanical medical devices. This role ensures high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient production of cable assemblies and related products. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, implement new technologies, and support new product introductions. A Senior Manufacturing Engineer is expected to train and mentor other members of the team. Job Duties and Responsibilities
Process Development & Optimization Design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for cable assemblies, including extrusion, braiding, shielding, and termination. Conduct time studies, root cause analyses, and process FMEAs to identify and eliminate inefficiencies. Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures. New Product Introduction (NPI) Support the transfer of new cable products from design to production. Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to ensure manufacturability and scalability. Lead pilot builds and validate manufacturing processes for new products. Equipment & Tooling Specify, select, and validate manufacturing equipment and tooling for cable production. Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for equipment installation and commissioning. Ensure preventive maintenance and calibration schedules are followed. Quality & Compliance Ensure manufacturing processes comply with industry standards (e.g., IPC / WHMA-A-620, ISO 9001). Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) related to process deviations and quality issues. Implement Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve product quality and reduce waste. Leadership & Collaboration Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians. Lead cross-functional teams in process improvement and cost reduction initiatives. Interface with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues. Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. 7+ years of experience in cable manufacturing or related high-volume production environments. Proficiency in CAD software, statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab), and ERP systems. Strong knowledge of cable assembly processes, materials, and standards. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and project management methodologies. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Experience in regulated environments such as FDA QSR's, ISO13485 for medical devices and ISO 9001 : 2000. Skilled at writing and editing production and other technical documents. Strong interpersonal communication. Demonstrated understanding of DOE, Statistics and test method validation. Ability to work independently, cross functional as a team member, and lead small teams. Preferred Certifications
