Food Rescue Program Lead

Every year, our school food rescue program 'rescues’ over 15,000 wholefood items and diverts them to places in need. We are seeking a few community volunteers (and backups) to help manage the Wakefield School Food Rescue program. There are various ways to help, and it’s flexible. For the program's long-term sustainability, we are seeking support in Program Management and in Food Transportation. ______________________________ __ Food Rescue Program Lead

(Volunteer Role) Time Commitment: ~1-4 hours per month, flexible Help sustain and grow our school-based food rescue efforts! As a Program Lead, you'll help coordinate logistics, support volunteer communication, and keep the program running smoothly. Tasks may include: * Communicate with school members and volunteers * Post Sign-up sheets and schedules * Create or update signage/materials for collection bins at the beginning of the school year. * Recruit assistance with food pick-ups ahead of major school break weeks (4x a year) * Audit to ensure compliance and safety (cleanliness, fridge temp, food logs) * Serve as backup for food transport when needed This role is ideal for someone organized, community-minded, and passionate about reducing food waste, feeding communities.
