Position Overview
The Community Engagement and Outreach Volunteer Coordinator will help us build and maintain strong relationships with local residents, businesses, churches, block clubs, and community organizations. This role will also support the planning and execution of community events, facilitate focus groups, and work directly with the public and local officials to engage them in W.I.S.E.’s mission and programs.
W.I.S.E. Partnership is dedicated to working in Detroit and with the residents to develop and provide needed resources. Although this opportunity can be done primarily virtually, it requires being able to meet the public face-to-face. Please be prepared to attend block club meetings, etc. to talk about the nonprofit.
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach : Connect with local organizations, block clubs, businesses, and residents to share information about WISE’s programs and initiatives.
Event Planning and Execution : Assist in organizing and executing events, including logistics, volunteer coordination, and promotion.
Relationship Management : Develop and nurture positive relationships with community stakeholders to build awareness of WISE’s efforts and foster partnerships.
Focus Group Facilitation : Help organize and facilitate focus groups to gather community feedback and support program development.
Public Relations : Represent WISE at community meetings, public events, and with local officials to build relationships and further the organization’s mission.
Collaborative Support : Work with the WISE team to ensure community engagement activities align with organizational goals and initiatives.
Reporting : Help track and report on outreach activities, providing insights to improve engagement strategies.
Qualifications Experience : Experience in community engagement, event planning, or public relations is preferred, but not required.
Skills : Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
Highly organized with event coordination experience.
Comfortable engaging with diverse community members.
Passionate about social justice and community empowerment.
Personal Attributes : Friendly, approachable, and community-minded.
Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
Enthusiastic about representing WISE and supporting community initiatives.
