For over 30 years, North Bay Children's Center (NBCC) has provided exceptional support to families, ensuring their children have the best possible start in life during these formative years. At NBCC, our mission is to equip all children, especially those facing challenges, with the necessary tools to thrive in preschool and beyond. Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated Head Cook with a passion for cooking for children and the ability to maintain high sanitary standards in our kitchen. The ideal candidate should have, or be willing to obtain, a ServSafe Certification and possess 1-2 years of relevant cooking experience. Key responsibilities include daily kitchen sanitation, food delivery to classrooms, cleaning dishes, inventory management, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of kitchen facilities. This position is crucial for our team and requires exceptional organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues across various departments as well as externally with state, county, and school district representatives. 1-2 years of verified cooking experience for children is REQUIRED. Key Responsibilities: Understand and implement CACFP meal pattern requirements. Ensure appropriate serving sizes for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children. Maintain thorough records of menus, meal counts, and food purchases for compliance and reimbursement purposes. Assist in meal preparation and service, adhering to CACFP regulatory requirements. Exhibit proficiency in food preparation techniques suitable for a food service operation. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate food prep and meal timing. Uphold a clean and organized kitchen environment, promoting teamwork during busy service periods. Educate children, staff, and families about healthy eating habits and balanced nutrition. Participate in internal reviews to ensure compliance with CACFP policies. Display flexibility in approaching challenges and demonstrate commitment to personal and professional growth. Education, Experience & Essential Duties: High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of experience in cooking and food preparation. Knowledge of kitchen systems and equipment. Ability to interpret recipes and instructions. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills for interaction with staff and vendors. Physical ability to perform tasks including lifting and working in confined spaces. Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends. Must possess a valid California Driver's License and automobile insurance as legally required. A clear background check is necessary, along with immunization proof for MMR, Tdap, and Flu. Regular meetings and participation in staff development activities are expected. Compensation:
