Norwood Crossing is a non-profit senior living community located in Chicago's Norwood Park neighborhood. Our residential campus specializes in assisted living, skilled nursing, rehab, respite stays, and memory support (including Alzheimer's and dementia care). For over 100 years, we have been dedicated to enhancing the independence and well-being of older adults.
We're looking for a volunteer for our award-winning Memory Support Unit to keep residents company by playing a musical instrument for them. Time Commitment:
Minimum once a week at the same time every week. Day of the week is semi-flexible but mornings are preferred. Responsibilities and Expectations: * Play music on your instrument for residents on a weekly basis. Qualifications: * Must be passionate about volunteering, friendly, patient, and considerate. * Must be comfortable working with residents who have Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. * Able to safely transport residents in their wheelchairs if needed (training provided). * Able to commit to being here on time. Advance notice of absences is most helpful for the residents and staff. * Interpersonal flexibility required and ability to take direction from staff.
