Summary
The HR Generalist is a versatile professional responsible for performing a broad range of HR functions within the organization. This role wears multiple hats as a coach, consultant, and administrator to support various HR initiatives and ensure the smooth operation of HR processes. The Generalist fosters a positive, inclusive workplace and, drawing upon the CRH Leadership Success Profiles, exemplifies adaptability, collaboration, and results-oriented action. The HR Generalist is expected to travel up to 25% (visiting distribution terminals or other company locations, attending in-person conferences or events).
What You’ll Be Contributing
- Promote and follow plant safety guidelines
- Employee Relations - Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, effectively communicating HR policies and fostering a culture of inclusivity and trust.
- Address and resolve employee concerns with professionalism and confidentiality, including conflict resolution, employee investigations, and compliance issues.
- Conduct exit interviews to gather feedback and recommend actionable improvements for employee retention.
- Recruitment and Onboarding - Assist and collaborate with Talent Acquisition in the recruitment process, including representing at recruitment events, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and facilitating onboarding and orientation of new employees. Familiarity with recruitment processes and interviewing techniques is essential.
- Training and Development - Identify training needs and coordinate professional development programs that enhance employee capabilities and performance.
- Support managers in implementing performance development plans, aligning individual growth with organizational objectives.
- Compliance and Policy Implementation - Ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws, aligning local practices with organizational changes and legal requirements. Up-to-date understanding of labor laws and compliance requirements is necessary.
- Assist employees and their managers through the leave administration and application process, ensuring appropriate documentation and tracking is maintained and policy is observed.
- Performance Management - Facilitate performance review processes, guiding managers and employees in setting goals and evaluating performance.
- Compensation and Benefits - Assist in the local administration of payroll, compensation and benefits programs; address employee inquiries related to benefits, promoting understanding and engagement with available resources.
- HR Data Management - Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases, generating reports and analyzing data to support decision-making. Proficiency in HR analytics and data-driven decision-making is advantageous.

To Succeed In This Position, You Will Need
- Minimum of 4 year/bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of years and education
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or PHR preferred but not required
- Minimum of 4 years of work experience as an HR generalist or in related HR roles (e.g., Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Benefits, Analytics or Compensation)
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Demonstrated grasp and application of human resources principles, best practices and methods
- Demonstrated grasp and application of employment laws and regulations
- Customer Focus - Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions
- Action Oriented - Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with urgency and energy
- Situational Adaptability - Adjusting approach in real time to changing situations
