Follows established procedures to perform routine, STAT, or special tests, recording all results accurately and meeting standards for complete and timely reporting.
Demonstrates competence in all scheduled test protocols through successful challenge on periodic and annual basis.
Shows understanding of bodily processes as they relate to laboratory testing.
Can correlate and evaluate testing with laboratory data on an individual patient basis for troubleshooting and follow-up with clinicians.
Successfully troubleshoots methodology failures.
Exhibits strong organizational skills.
Utilizes multi-departmental training and experience to process duties efficiently and simultaneously.
Works independently with success.
Performs all required Quality Control procedures, documents results accurately, and follows up on outliers.
Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment successfully; documents all activities.
Notifies Supervisors of any unusual or unexpected results.
Reports all critical values to the appropriate personnel and completes all documentation.
Maintains all records accurately, legibly, and completely.
Can teach, communicate ideas, and offer solutions to laboratory problems.
Follows all organizational, departmental, and section policies (e.g., Universal Precautions, Fire Safety, QA documentation, Hazardous Waste Collection).
Notifies Supervisors of potential or existing problems that could affect laboratory goals.
Conducts self professionally at all times (via apparel, communication, interactions, etc.).
Assists with orientation of new staff, students, residents, and fellows as directed.
Reports laboratory test results using the Laboratory Information System as instructed.
