Lead Systems Engineer

Currently, we are in the process of modernizing fleets to the upgraded ACES 5 design, providing a safer ejection system to ensure those who are born to fly, live to walk away. We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join us as a lead systems engineer to support all phases of ejection seat product development lifecycle including the bid, design, development, verification & validation. The preferred candidate will have experience with hardware development for military/DoD customers. The lead systems engineer will: Interface with customers/suppliers/internal stakeholders to understand needs and scope to be able assess current capabilities, compliance status and risks/opportunities Evaluate external and internal customer requirements to define system functional, physical and performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of platform interfaces Allocate, decompose and derive lower-level requirements, identify and resolve gaps, capture traceability and design decision rationale Work with Test Engineering on requirements verification and validation, including supporting the creation and review of plans, procedures and reports Manage requirements change throughout the development life cycle to ensure robust documentation is established for product qualification Communicate and collaborate effectively and professionally with other engineering disciplines, other project team members, customers, sub-contractors and suppliers Support capture of project and product requirements in requirements database/library Use agile tools to complete the planning, execution of assigned tasking for each monthly sprint/increment Follow company procedures while utilizing domain best practices to plan and execute engineering activities to meet program cost, quality and schedule objectives Participate in peer reviews throughout the product lifecycle of design, development, integration and test, and flight test requirements verification Participate in Root Cause Analysis utilizing Raytheon Technologies Best Practices Contribute to continual process improvement and functional excellence by supporting the development of new discipline approaches, techniques and tool usage The position requires strong interpersonal skills, high degree of comfort with ambiguity, good project discipline, excellent oral and written communication skills, high computer/technology proficiency, and the ability to work independently. Occasional travel may be required. Qualifications you must have: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience. Experience with agile tools (ex. JIRA). Qualifications we prefer: Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices, including utilizing Cameo to create functional, physical and behavior diagrams, analyze design and proposed changes against requirements, assist with system/component trade studies, and facilitate the use of Cameo simulations. Previous Propulsion experience preferred. Experience with root cause analysis. Join our mission today. The salary range for this role is $101,000 - $203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
