Job Description The Director of Engineering (DOE) will ensure that our high-rise building and all of its Engineering functions are maintained in excellent condition at all times. This person will supervise a team of engineering professionals including painters, mechanical engineers, preventative maintenance technicians, room-call specialists and others. The DOE will provide a quality experience for the associates, ensuring that training and mentoring is a regular part of our team\'s work life, coaching associates to meet Omni\'s guest service standards as well as ensuring technical excellence at all times. The DOE will manage all Capital Improvement projects and renovations and strive to ensure high guest satisfaction scores. The DOE must be a technical expert at diagnosing problems and guiding and mentoring other skilled engineers. Additionally, the DOE will work closely with the building\'s condo association to ensure their needs are met. Responsibilities
Coordinate and operate, in an economical, legal and safe manner, all Heating, Lighting, Power and Repair & Maintenance for the hotel. Inspect physical plant and equipment, and supervise maintenance and preventative maintenance programs. Coordinate with other departments all work necessary to maintain general conditions, safety and health standards set forth by hotel policy and legal requirements. Interview, hire, counsel, train, and discipline engineering associates, in coordination with the Director of Human Resources. Directly supervise all Engineering associates in operation and control utilities to provide efficient operation of hotel services and comfort to guests. Recommend to management possible projects for future capital budgets. Obtain bids, supervise and coordinate contractors in performance of project work. Maintain own and hotel\'s special permits and licenses as required by local authorities. Assist in emergency situations as central communication center for the hotel. Respond to alarms and life/safety issues immediately and relay alerts to the First Responder team according to Emergency Response procedures. Ensure that all team members operate in a safe manner according to state, local and federal laws and OSHA standards. All associates must be well-versed in Omni\'s IIPP program and must be certified before operating heavy machinery. Ensure the hotel has an effective plan to increase guest satisfaction, especially in the guest survey category of "Everything is in working order". Control schedules, staffing and payroll of Engineering associates. Compile personnel records, logs utilities and keep Engineering records. Qualifications
Must possess expert knowledge in diagnosing, repairing and recommending changes in boilers, pumps, HVAC, electrical systems, motors, computerized control systems, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, domestic water systems, heating and cooling loops, and guest room A/C. At least 5 years of hands-on experience in these areas. Must have at least 3 years of Engineering supervisory experience at the Director or Assistant Director level. Prior experience guiding significant capital improvement and renovation projects is required. Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English. Proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office. Physical ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs; able to move up and down stairs and ladders. Willingness to work a full-time varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. Prior experience in hospitality or a closely related industry is strongly preferred. EPA / HVAC certification is preferred. Proficiency in laundry equipment, ice machines, guest room systems, lighting and ballasts, and building systems unique to high rises is strongly preferred.
