Technical Support Engineer Intern
Watson AIOps is an IBM platform that applies artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to automate and improve IT operations by identifying and resolving issues within IT systems. It analyzes diverse data sources, such as logs and metrics, to provide insights, detect anomalies, and proactively address problems, helping to reduce downtime and improve service levels. The platform integrates into the IT toolchain to offer a unified view of the IT environment, enabling faster incident assessment, diagnosis, and resolution. IBM is seeking to hire a Technical Support Engineer Intern currently pursuing a degree with a track record of success in one of the following fields: Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Electronics, Telecommunications, Network Administration. This is a client-facing role that requires a candidate that will provide high quality remote technical software, and problem management support to IBM's clients with the guidance of IBM Subject Matter Experts (SME). The candidate must have Problem Determination/Problem Source Identification (PD/PSI) experience. The candidate will communicate action plans to the Client or IBM representative as appropriate. The intern will also work on various projects that are strategic to IBM including Artificial Intelligence (Watson), Cognitive Support Platform (IBM's CRM), TCP/IP Networking, Content Development, and other Technical Support processes. Required technical and professional expertise: The candidate must possess strong intrapersonal skills that foster collaboration and relationship-building, especially within agile and fast-paced environments. Basic skills in: Docker, Linux, Kubernetes, Network Protocols, Network Topology/Architecture, DNS & IP addressing, Firewall/Port Management, Cloud Networking, Monitoring/Observability Concepts, and Python. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Preferred technical and professional experience: Familiarity with Watson AIOps is a plus. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to understand AI-driven observability tools, incident correlation, root cause analysis, and intelligent insights.
