Position Overview: The Senior Solutions Architect serves as the chief technical strategist and systems design authority for the Clearance Action Tracking System (CATS). This role is responsible for envisioning, defining, and maintaining the applications architecture, including on-premises and cloud components, ensuring seamless integration with other DOE/NNSA systems. The SSA translates high-level business and security requirements into robust technical solutions that are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise IT strategies. Key Responsibilities: Architectural Leadership: Define and maintain the overarching system and cloud architectures for CATS, ensuring they meet DOE/NNSA technical, security, and operational requirements. Integration Design: Design and coordinate integration points and data exchanges between CATS and other critical systems such as CPCI, eDelivery, and other DOE/NNSA applications. Cloud Strategy: Lead the migration of CATS from on-premises hosting to a hybrid cloud environment, ensuring optimal use of Azure resources and services. Technical Liaison: Serve as the primary technical point of contact with NA-IM, DOE IT Services, and other external stakeholders for architecture-related matters. Standards and Compliance: Ensure that all designs align with DOE/NNSA IT standards, security mandates, and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) best practices. Mentorship: Provide guidance and direction to the Solutions Architect and other technical staff to ensure consistency and quality in system design and implementation. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelors degree in an Information Technology-related discipline. Minimum of 10 years experience supporting DOE/NNSA IT programs. Experience achieving or maintaining CMMI Level 3 or higher accreditation. Knowledge of DOE/NNSA Personnel Vetting programs strongly desired. Required Skills: Expert knowledge in systems architecture, cloud computing, and integration design. Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and compliance requirements. Ability to design enterprise-grade solutions that balance performance, scalability, and security. Excellent communication skills for interfacing with executives, technical teams, and end-users. Certification Requirement: Desired: Project Management, Agile, SAFe for Government, Microsoft Azure, ITIL, CISSP, Cloud/Network Engineering, CMMI Level 3+.
