Monitoring Clinical Director
We are seeking a strategic and clinically experienced Monitoring Clinical Director to lead and develop a high-performing team of clinical professionals within our Acute Care & Monitoring (ACM) Sales organization. This role is pivotal in driving clinical engagement, strategic account growth, and cross-functional collaboration across sales, marketing, and medical affairs. You will oversee a team of Principal Monitoring Clinical Product Specialists, Principal Key Account Clinical Specialists (PKACS), and Per Diem Clinical Educators, ensuring alignment with business priorities and clinical excellence. This position requires a strong clinical background, leadership acumen, and the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies. While this is a remote position not located at a physical Medtronic site, the candidate hired will be required to reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts throughout the region. A valid driver's license is essential for this role. This position can be based anywhere in the continental United States. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Clinical Leadership :
Provide direct-line leadership to Monitoring Clinical Product Specialists and dotted-line oversight of PKACS and PRN Clinical Educators. Drive team ownership of select strategic accounts, ensuring deep relationship management and consistent clinical engagement. Develop and execute clinical strategies to support offensive growth, key account maintenance, and competitive defense.
Executive Engagement & Influence :
Build and maintain strong relationships with key health system executives, especially Chief Nursing Officers (CNOs), to align clinical strategies with customer priorities. Represent the clinical voice in strategic customer engagements and internal planning.
Analytics & Business Intelligence :
Use data and analytics to identify account opportunities and guide team activity toward high-impact engagements. Lead the development and delivery of quarterly business reviews to the SSD team, highlighting clinical trends, team activity, and future focus areas. Monitor clinical practice and market trends, translating insights into strategic recommendations for organizational focus.
Field Enablement & Messaging :
Recommend and develop concise, field-ready messaging to support best practice sharing and competitive differentiation. Ensure consistent deployment of optimized clinical messaging across pre-sale and post-sale activities. Standardize evaluation processes to demonstrate clinical value and drive deal closure.
Talent Development & Team Performance :
Coach and mentor clinical team members, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Implement robust talent management programs, including succession planning and career path development. Collaborate with Sales Training to deliver consistent, impactful training curricula.
Cross-Functional Collaboration :
Partner with Sales, Marketing, Global Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Sales Training to enhance clinical messaging, tools, and processes. Support strategic initiatives such as Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC), competitive conversions, and large-scale evaluations.
Operational Excellence :
Ensure compliance with internal systems (Salesforce, Workday, LMS, etc.) and vendor credentialing requirements. Collaborate with third-party resource providers for recruitment and management of PRN Clinical Educators.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree (BA, BS, BSN, etc.) from a four-year college or university. Professional credential (RRT, RN, CRNA, PNP, etc.). Required Experience:
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in medical device sales or marketing (at least 5 in a team selling environment + Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in people, program or project management, including supervision of direct reports. Preferred Qualifications
MBA, MSN, PhD or other advanced degree. Proven track record of professional development through coaching and mentoring. Experience working in a complex, matrixed, geographically-distributed organization. Strong understanding of healthcare reform, competitive landscape, and customer implications. Ability to influence and drive cross-functional teams with or without direct authority. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
