Sr. Product Design Engineer - Hubbell Site Flexible Apply now Date: Aug 26, 2025 Location: Tulsa, OK, US, 74136 Edmonton, AB, CA, T5M 3Z1 Corona, CA, US, 92882 Broken Arrow, OK, US, 74014-5940 Company: Hubbell Incorporated Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Sr. Product Design Engineer with mechanical engineering expertise to join our product development team in the natural gas, plumbing and LPG consumer products industry. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing products for residential and commercial markets, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Position will be hybrid in one of our manufacturing facilties (Corona CA, Tulsa/Broken Arrow OK, Edmonton CAN). A Day In The Life Product Development & Design Design and develop innovative consumer products including fittings, risers, meters, regulators, and associated tools.

Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation using Solidworks.

Conduct feasibility studies and design reviews for new product concepts

Optimize product performance for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness

Testing & Validation Conduct performance testing

Oversee validation and safety testing to ensure compliance with industry standards

Analyze test data and implement design improvements based on findings

Coordinate with third-party testing laboratories for certification requirements

Regulatory Compliance & Safety Ensure all products meet applicable safety codes and standards (ASTM, CSA, UL, ANSI, etc.)

Stay current with evolving gas safety regulations and industry standards

Implement fail-safe mechanisms and safety features in product designs

Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses

Manufacturing Support Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production

Support pilot production runs

Participate in design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews

Cross-functional Collaboration Partner with marketing teams to understand customer needs and market requirements

Support sales teams with technical expertise during customer presentations

Collaborate with quality assurance teams on product reliability

Work with supply chain teams on component sourcing and cost optimization

Support junior Engineers on projects with technical mentorship

What will help you thrive in this role? Education & Experience Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

5+ years of experience in new product development, preferably in utility industries

Experience with natural gas, water delivery, or LPG systems engineering preferred

Technical Skills Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks required)

Familiarity with materials science and manufacturing processes

Physical prototyping experience

Familiarity with 3D Printing

Strong understanding of new product design procedures and principles

Knowledge of gas codes and safety standards (NFPA, IRC, UMC)

Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)

Professional Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills

Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering

Professional Engineer (PE) license (required if candidate in Edmonton, CAN)

Experience with gas, LPG utilities
