About the Opportunity: This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This position is in Regulated Settlements and provides an opportunity to learn about the PJM energy and capacity market as well as how retail shopping impacts utility operations. In this role, the selected candidate will interact with PJM and third-party suppliers; learn how wholesale settlement functions influence activity at PJM; and understand how certain changes in federal and state regulations impact our company. This position develops and analyzes customer hourly energy data used by various FirstEnergy internal business groups and external organizations; specifically, PJM and Retail Energy Suppliers for invoicing and reporting. The Regulated Settlements group interacts routinely with team members from Customer Care, Regulated Commodity Sourcing, FERC & RTO Technical Support, RTO Energy Transactions, Metering & Support Systems, Rates & Regulatory Affairs, and Information Technology. This department also participates as members of the PJM Market Settlements and PJM Demand Response subcommittees. The position reports to the Manager, Regulated Settlements and is an onsite position. It can be based out of any FirstEnergy location within our service territory (OH, PA, WV, MD, and NJ). Responsibilities include: Prepare and submit accurate and timely energy, capacity, and transmission data to PJM on a daily, monthly, and annual basis. Query, validate, analyze, and organize large amounts of data into meaningful results. Prepare and validate weekly, monthly, and annual reports for internal/external sources. Utilize various mathematical principles such as regression equations and algebra. Assist with key projects and implement improvement initiatives related to processing and analyzing customer energy data and resolving data discrepancies. Understand concepts related to operating in Regional Transmission Organization and electric industry principles such as PJM energy and capacity markets, demand response, energy efficiency, customer choice, and customer electric use patterns. Coordinate and participate in meetings with various internal departments regarding metering and supplier data information. Keep sensitive customer information secured. Demonstrate commitment to all aspects of safety and the company's diversity and inclusion principles. Provide a high level of customer service and responsiveness while building relationships and credibility across the organization. Conduct business specific research, interpret results, and make recommendations. Consistently anticipate and deliver against a defined action plan. Contribute to solutions by taking initiative to develop alternatives and recommendations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline with 7 years of relevant work experience required.
