Position Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist to work approximately twenty-four (24) hours a week. This employee utilizes multiple modalities, including but not limited to EMG, EEG, and EP instrumentation, to assist physicians in diagnosing neurological disorders. You will be completing nerve conduction studies and working alongside a fellow senior EMG tech. This will be in-person and supports the UT Neurology Neuromuscular division and the providers.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Operates multiple modalities, including but not limited to Electromyography (EMG) instruments, Electroencephalogram (EEG) instruments, and Electrophysiology (EP) tests. 2. Provides technology support for two or more locations and three or more providers. 3. Provides patients with procedure explanations and addresses questions to prepare patients for procedures. 4. Obtains information about the patient's medical history and current medications. 5. Identifies technical issues, performs routine maintenance of equipment, and obtains assistance to correct issues as necessary. Ensures equipment is clean and organized. Stock supplies as needed. 6. Communicates potential changes and abnormalities to the provider as appropriate. 7. Participates in departmental in-service training, staff meetings, and continuing education as required. 8. Provides coverage, technical and/or administrative, in other areas of the department as needed. 9. Performs other duties as assigned. EEG Specific Activities 10. Independently prepares patients for testing and/or monitoring by accurately placing electrodes and using established protocols required for the procedure. 11. Recognizes artifacts on EEG recording with an attempt to eliminate. Requests assistance from physician and/or peers when difficulties are encountered. 12. Recognizes abnormalities on EEG and enhances them by utilizing appropriate filter settings, paper speeds, and/or monitoring techniques. 13. Completes a technical description and prepares a recorded EEG recording for the physician. EMG Specific Activities 14. Assists the Neurologist in performing EMG procedures with a focus on patient comfort and the physician's needs. May also perform EMG procedure independently under the supervision of a physician. 15. Prepares patients for nerve conduction studies in a professional manner and as specified by the physician. 16. Measures and records time and distance between stimulus and response, manually or using a computer, and calculates the velocity of the electrical impulse in the peripheral nerve. 17. Monitors the response on the oscilloscope and records the nerve conduction velocity. 18. Legibly records accurate latencies and calculations on designated forms for physician review. 19. Prepares printed results for physician review.

Certification/Skills: Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T.) by American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET) required or Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT) by American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM) required or Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG T.) by American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) required or Certified Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) by the American Board of Registration of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) required

Minimum Education:

Associate's degree in related field. Neurodiagnostic Technology degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Four years of directly-related experience; with at least one year of EMG experience preferred. Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and /or over 50 pounds frequently and/or over 20 pounds of force constantly to move object.
