Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our preconstruction team. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates on healthcare and higher education projects, working closely with project managers, preconstruction directors, and clients to ensure project budgets align with design goals and owner expectations. This individual will play a critical role in winning work and supporting our commitment to delivering exceptional, high-quality facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost estimates during all phases of design (conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents).
  • Analyze project documents, drawings, and specifications to determine scope and requirements.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs, subcontractor solicitations, and detailed bid packages.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for completeness and compliance.
  • Collaborate with project teams to support constructability reviews, value engineering, and alternative solutions.
  • Maintain a historical cost database and stay current with industry pricing and market conditions.
  • Work with clients, architects, and engineers to ensure project budgets are transparent, realistic, and aligned with design intent.
  • Incorporate healthcare-specific considerations such as infection control measures, medical equipment integration, and compliance standards.
  • Account for unique higher education requirements including laboratory, classroom, research, and campus infrastructure settings.
  • Support business development by contributing to bid proposals, presentations, and client interactions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor.
  • Proven expertise in healthcare and/or higher education construction project estimating is a plu.
  • GMP and lump sum bids.
  • Proficiency with estimating and take-off softwar.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
