CONSTRUCTION OBSERVER Job at Juneau Associates, Inc., P.C. in Granite City

Juneau Associates, Inc., P.C. has provided professional engineering, land surveying and construction management services for public and private clients since 1980. We are looking for a Construction Observer for our construction projects.

Job Responsibilities: Typical duties of the Construction Observer include providing on-site observation and preparing documentation for construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with Illinois Department of Transportation specifications, plans, and/or proposals for roadway and bridge work, vertical construction, drainage facilities, roadway, pavement, etc.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Verifying plan quantities and calculations with bid plans
• Preparing and maintaining project records and reports
• Documentation/Approval of construction materials that will be incorporated into the project
• Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Resident Engineer
• Notifying the Contractor, Project Manager, or the Resident Engineer of non-conforming work when necessary

Requirements:

• BS in civil engineering not required, but a plus
• 2-4 years experience in construction observation
• Engineer intern certification
• Ability to read and interpret contract documents and construction plans
• Experience working on IDOT projects a plus
• IDOT documentation training to be obtained within six months
• Valid Driver’s License
• Strong PC Skills, including web-based software and Microsoft Office
• Strong time management and attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills
