The Work Unit: The work unit exists to implement, monitor and maintain greenhouse gas and ozone precursor's reduction programs for the Air Pollution Control Division Mobile Sources Program, investigate new emissions reduction strategies, and improve air quality for the citizens of Colorado by minimizing motor vehicle emissions while controlling program convenience and costs. What You Will Be Doing: This position exists to oversee contract implementation, program performance, and perform contract monitoring activities. Contributes to plan, design, develop and evaluate motor vehicle emissions control programs that are run effectively and optimize the customer experience. This position monitors and provides feedback to the Supervisor on various program aspects related to mobile source emissions to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Utilizes analytical skills to acquire data from primary and secondary sources to ensure quality, accuracy and integrity. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An applicant may meet the minimum qualifications for this job in one of two ways: They may qualify through their work experience alone or through a combination of education and work experience. Experience Only: Six (6) years of experience in contract monitoring or air pollution control experience related to mobile sources. OR Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in automotive engineering, natural physical sciences, environmental sciences, industrial sciences or a closely related field and two years of experience of professional air pollution control experience related to mobile sources equal to six (6) years PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the minimum requirements, the successful candidate in this position will have the following experience: Graduate degree in environmental sciences, industrial science, engineering or automotive technology. Knowledge and experience developing and performing quality control and quality assurance procedures. Previous vehicle emissions testing experience, including On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) systems. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of audiences. Attention to detail. Data analysis and reporting skills. Ability to work independently in a field environment. Experience involving contract monitoring, compliance review, or program oversight. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process. TRAVEL: 2-3 times a week visiting emissions testing facilities to ensure compliance with the contract.
