Real Estate Lending Summer Associate Program

The Real Estate Lending division has more than four thousand team members helping Navy Federal's members with their home lending needs. The Real Estate Forecasting & People Analytics team is responsible for managing the staffing needs of the Real Estate division. The Capacity Planning & Intelligence team - members of the Forecasting & People Analytics group - collaborates with Real Estate Lending division leadership and business units to forecast strategic and tactical staffing requirements for both loan originations and servicing teams. Our mission is to be the trusted partner for Real Estate Lending by supporting the achievement of strategic goals through predicting, planning, and optimizing workforce needs. Our objectives include: improving business performance and enhancing the employee and member experience, collaborating with production, servicing, and analytics functional teams to develop optimal staffing projections, and maintaining organization agility by providing data-driven staffing recommendations. Probable projects include partnering with capacity model owners to determine the impact of specific process improvements and technological enhancements to things like loan conversions, reduction in cycle times, and reducing staffing footprint. Real Estate Lending is currently embarking on the initial stages of bringing agentic AI into the field. The Summer Associate may have the opportunity to assess opportunities and impacts of such a rollout. Responsible for optimizing the performance of business operations by analyzing current and forecasting future performance. Conduct analyses and gather, organize, and review data to support general business operations and planning activities and ensure processes are integrated and effective across the department. Growing an understanding of business needs and objectives. Solve a range of mostly straightforward problems with some increased scope and complexity. Developing professional with basic skill set and proficiency with procedures and analysis techniques. The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later. Responsibilities include: collaborating with model owners to understand the impacts of modeling efforts and process/technology improvements, preparing presentations and presenting findings to executive leadership, participating in all team activities and knowledge shares, conducting analyses and reporting in support of general business operations and planning activities including budget development, equipment availability and other capabilities, assessing requirements for internal business processes, ensuring integration across teams and business units and compatibility with organizational strategic goals, documenting business processes and workflows; identifying inefficiencies or areas for improvement, analyzing and evaluating business data to identify solutions to basic business problems; using quantitative analysis methodology to perform data, cost and benefit, and/or process measurement analysis, analyzing processes and workflows to understand value chain, input/output, to improve and/or automate business performance, and creating reports that show key performance indicators, identify areas of improvement into current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems and value chain, input/output, to improve and/or automate business performance. Qualifications include: working knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and analytics, ability to present complex topics in clear and understandable ways to a non-technical audience, ability to code in Python, R, SAS, SQL and have knowledge of modeling and statistical software packages such as JMP or AnyLogic, experience in business and operational strategy, planning and analysis, basic understanding of business and operating environment, working knowledge of data querying, reporting, forecasting, analysis and operations research, research, analytical, and problem solving skills, effective problem resolution skills including determining root cause, scope and scale of issues, effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills, effective project management skill to lead projects and/or initiatives of small to medium scope to include working effectively with diverse internal and external contacts, Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or related field, and desired - Master's Degree in Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field.
