Job Summary: The Heavy Industries Territory Manager (Southwestern Ohio, Southern Indiana, Kentucky) is accountable for consistent and sustainable sales growth; engaging SKF Authorized Distributors and Channel Partners with a focus on Heavy Industry end users and expanding the customer relationship. Reporting to the Regional Sales Director, this technical sales role secures SKFs position with customers on new products and applications primarily in Heavy Industry (Metals, Paper, Cement), delivering a flawless customer experience and acting as the primary contact for distributors and end-users in the defined sales area. The role may support other industries and applications within the territory. It covers both retention of existing core business and development of new opportunities, serving as the key liaison for field-based sales activities and ensuring SKF resources are leveraged in support of aftermarket business (CS, AE, Marketing, etc.). Responsibilities
Deliver consistent year-over-year sustainable profit growth within the assigned portfolio of business Engage SKF Authorized Distributors, Channel Partners and Metals Industry end-users to drive sales growth through product expansion, relationship building and delivering a flawless customer experience Build, deepen and sustain customer relationships Provide consultative, collaborative support with customers, their sales teams and engineers to understand requirements and determine system needs Recommend improved materials or machinery emphasizing cost reduction or increased production Be recognized by customers as a trusted advisor and help them achieve KPI targets Provide strong technical support to distributors and Heavy Industry end-user accounts Act as the preferred technical partner for distributors and end-user customers in a defined sales area Provide basic/intermediate technical support and escalate to Application Engineers for higher-level SME support Perform application reviews for new opportunities to identify optimal SKF solutions Troubleshoot existing applications and define upgrade options Assess competitive share-shift opportunities and promote SKF alternatives Maintain documentation of opportunities in the sales funnel aligned with SKF strategies Develop and maintain technical contacts to generate opportunities within the defined area Develop and execute cross-functional go-to-market strategies with internal and external stakeholders Manage end customers with an opportunity-based sales plan to protect existing businesses and drive growth Utilize Sales Excellence processes in offer development and insights to move opportunities through the funnel Plan and modify products to meet customer needs Secure growth and retention orders with timely delivery Job Requirements
Bachelors Degree or equivalent industry experience Strong commercial and technical/mechanical aptitude General industry knowledge with ability to communicate technical details Ability to answer technical questions using published information catalogs for bearings, seals and maintenance products Familiarity with nomenclature and design features, shaft and housing fits, and basic maintenance recommendations Ability to perform competitor product interchanges for catalog items Experience with SKF Sales Excellence process and insight selling Ability to provide training and hands-on demonstrations of bearings, seals, and maintenance products Knowledge of lubrication methods and practices with ability to assess and recommend improvements Knowledge of bearing failures and causes with ability to perform basic failure analysis Ability to troubleshoot applications and communicate complex issues to Application Engineers Ability to inspect bearings and determine scrap, reuse or rework decisions Strong situational awareness and ability to navigate complex organizations Proficiency with SKF tools and systems (C4C, Illuminate, Microsoft Suite, PTPlace, DeliveryData.net, SKFiOS, Android apps, Croesus) Sales planning, funnel management and customer follow-up skills Knowledge of distributor management, including P&L, margins, rebates, returns, logistics, terms and digital transactions Excellent organization, time management and sales planning skills Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and driven to win Willingness to travel 50-70% domestically Key Competencies
