Bus Driver
Starting pay commensurate with experience. Job Description Attached Supervisor: Director of Support Services Purpose: Responsible for safe and efficient transportation of school pupils within the guidelines of the State of Ohio and the policies established by the Board of Education. Maintain discipline on the bus, promoting good public relations by neat appearance, proper attitude, and school bus appearance. Minimum Qualifications: Be a high school graduate or equivalent. Be of legal age of 18 with a minimum of two years driving experience. Hold a valid Commercial Driver's License with S and P endorsements. Completion of pre-service and in-service training and participation in staff development. Have a current bus driver certificate, pre-service certificate, driver abstract, BCI and FBI background checks. Be physically qualified as determined by an annual physical examination. Know basic computer skills. Ability to make clear and comprehensive reports -- verbal and written. Have a high moral character and the ability to work cooperatively with others. Maintain a good attendance record. Must maintain effective working relations with staff, students, and administrators. Must be conscientious, punctual, and enthusiastic about work. Have respect for the value and security of the school property and furnishings. Essential Functions: Perform a safety check of the school bus, as required by State of Ohio Regulation 3301-83-11. Be at your bus 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time to perform an adequate pre-trip inspection. Complete the required established pre-trip inspection before starting on a scheduled bus route to pick up or discharge pupils. Record pre-trip inspection on proper form before leaving bus lot. Report equipment malfunctions on appropriate forms. Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations. Responsible for safe operating conditions and cleanliness of the bus. Obey traffic laws, along with state and federal regulations. Maintain pupil control and report any violations to the proper authorities. Maintain routes, stops, and time schedules as established by the supervisor. Must be present or available at all bus driver meetings in the event of emergency dismissal or any additional time required for the safe transportation of the students. Notify the supervisor or designee in case of illness daily or of continued illness to permit time to secure a substitute driver in accordance with the negotiated contract. Promote good public relations by your appearance.
