Students use the national organization's materials to enrich their mathematical skills through application and problem-solving strategies. Length of Season or Duration of Activity/Club: September-March Qualifications: Strong mathematical knowledge and critical thinking and problem solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Must demonstrate a willingness and ability to cultivate and extend students' appreciation and knowledge of mathematical and problem-solving skills Job Goal: To be committed to fostering a greater interest in mathematics and problem-solving through providing opportunities to broaden a student's appreciation for the subject. To be committed to developing a growing and competitive MATHCOUNTS team for South Fayette Middle School. Performance Responsibilities: Conduct regular meetings/practice sessions of the MATHCOUNTS team Provide mathematics instruction spanning various topics and grade levels as dictated through various MATHCOUNTS materials Recruit MATHCOUNTS team members Prepare MATHCOUNTS team members for competition; familiarize team members with format and rules of competition Keep accurate and current attendance and demographic records of team members Create/maintain a Canvas Course dedicated to team business and housing practice materials Work closely with MATHCOUNTS Organization and Assistant Coach to plan and implement participation in regular practice sessions, mock competitions, and competitions Maintain open communication with parents/guardians of team members Maintain open communication with sixth, seventh, and eighth grade team members to provide notification of club activities Monitor meetings, dismissal and pick-up activity at the end of each practice session Accompany team members to all competitions. Alignment of EPR to the District's mission statement MATHCOUNTS is an extra- curricular activity open to all middle level students that will provide math enrichment and a new way to promote problem-solving skills. It will offer ways to apply and extend mathematical knowledge and foster self-confidence and positive peer relationships. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building Principal and communicated to the Superintendent. Payment: Payment for this activity will be made-this will be determined by Administration by the duration of EPR
