A Patient Access Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients in healthcare settings, responsible for managing patient registrations, verifying insurance information, and ensuring a smooth patient experience.
Key Responsibilities - Patient Registration: Greet patients upon arrival, collect personal and insurance information, and input data into the electronic health record (EHR) system to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Insurance Verification: Contact insurance providers to confirm patient coverage and benefits, documenting findings and communicating any discrepancies to patients and healthcare providers.
- Appointment Scheduling: Manage the scheduling of patient appointments, including follow-ups and referrals, to optimize the appointment calendar and minimize wait times.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns with empathy and professionalism, acting as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain patient admission and discharge documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Administrative Support: Perform general administrative tasks, including answering phone calls, handling billing inquiries, and maintaining organized patient records. 4

Required Skills and Qualifications - Education: High school diploma or GED;experience in a clerical or administrative position is preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, family members, and healthcare professionals.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong empathy and patience to assist patients who may be in distress or facing health issues.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage patient records, appointment schedules, and billing information accurately and efficiently.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with medical software and computer systems for patient registration, appointment scheduling, and record-keeping.
- Attention to Detail: A detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in data entry and compliance with regulations
