A Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of a company's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and software. This role ensures the efficient and secure operation of IT systems, often involving both on-premise and cloud-based environments. They troubleshoot issues, implement updates, and contribute to the overall IT strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, operating systems, and related software and hardware. Managing local and wide area networks, including firewalls, routers, and wireless systems. Implementing and maintaining security solutions, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems. Identifying and resolving technical issues related to hardware, software, and network systems. Continuously monitoring systems for performance, security breaches, and other potential problems. Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Collaborating with other IT staff, vendors, and end-users to address issues and implement solutions. Participating in IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new implementations. May also involve managing cloud-based services and infrastructure, such as Azure or AWS. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred. Strong understanding of server operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking protocols, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS). Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with various stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain detailed documentation. Understanding of security best practices and the ability to implement security measures. Pre-Employment Requirements:
Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review. Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position. Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis. Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.
Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force. Able to walk on uneven surfaces. Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs. Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time. Regularly kneel, bend, and squat. Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position. Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position. Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery. Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet). Safety:
