Work is performed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m Monday through Friday: August through April.

Position Summary

The Postal Clerk supports the Postal Services Production Supervisor in all aspects of post office operations, including retail sales, mail and package distribution, customer service, record keeping, automation mail processes, and loading dock duties. This role also serves as a backup for the delivery driver in campus mail distribution.

Essential Functions Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail for internal and delivery routes. Process packages using package lockers and tracking systems. Operate postage meter and verify proper departmental charges. Use rate shop software to help customers select carriers. Serve as backup delivery driver. Assist with high-speed addressing tasks using addressing software. Maintain accurate benchmark records and update faculty/staff delivery routes. Provide customer service at the counter, by phone, and by email. Coordinate with service technicians to resolve equipment and software issues. Qualifications

High school diploma required. Strong computer and software skills; ability to learn new technology quickly. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, including data merging. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with ability to sort and distribute mail efficiently. Self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision within established guidelines. Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Knowledge of postal regulations (mail classifications, material mailability) preferred. Required Mental and Physical Abilities

Ability to operate cash register, credit card equipment, computers, postage meter, printers, package lockers, and scales. Commitment to ongoing learning for equipment and regulation updates. Maintain customer service excellence in a busy environment. Ability to prioritize tasks, maintain confidentiality, and ensure facility security. Valid driver's license; ability to drive a box truck for campus and Xenia Post Office deliveries. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, bend, pull, and carry trays of mail. Environmental Considerations
