Job Title: Heavy Haul Truck Driver

Location: Stibnite Mine Development Project, Central Idaho

Job Type: Full-time, 19 days on / 9 days off

Pay Range: $40.00 – $48.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Transport heavy equipment and materials from Cascade, Idaho, to the Stibnite Mine, ensuring safe and timely delivery.
  • Navigate routes including a paved mountain pass and 60 miles of narrow dirt road with attention to road conditions and safety.
  • Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage, adhering to load securement regulations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer.
  • Maintain accurate driving logs, load details, and delivery schedules in compliance with transportation regulations.
  • Communicate with the Logistics Coordinator and team members to coordinate deliveries and address issues.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, traffic laws, and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.

Scope of Work

  • Safely transport heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers) and construction materials (e.g., steel, concrete) from Cascade to the Stibnite Mine.
  • Ensure loads are secured and balanced to prevent accidents or damage during transit.
  • Drive through challenging terrain, including mountain passes and dirt roads, while maintaining vehicle and load control.
  • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on the truck and trailer.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, including hours of service, weight limits, and permit requirements for oversized loads.
  • Provide regular updates on delivery status and report delays or issues.
  • Occasionally transport equipment and materials beyond the local haul route, including interstate travel as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a heavy haul truck driver with a proven track record of transporting oversized and heavy loads.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker and HAZMAT endorsements.
  • Experience navigating challenging routes, including mountain passes and dirt roads.
  • Strong knowledge of load securement techniques and regulations for heavy haul transportation.
  • Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently while following instructions.
  • Proficiency in handling emergencies with a focus on safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong focus on safety, with a clean driving record and no history of serious violations.

Living Arrangements

The Heavy Haul Truck Driver will be based in Cascade, Idaho, and will receive a per diem to cover living expenses during the project if not local or unable to drive to Cascade within an hour. When staying at the Stibnite Mine, drivers may reside in the project camp and must follow the camp's “dry” policy. Meals, showers, and laundry services are provided.

Safety and Compliance

The Stibnite Mine Development Project is monitored by OSHA and MSHA. All employees will receive comprehensive training to obtain the necessary certifications for their role, work location, and type of work. This training supports a safe and compliant work environment.

Physical Demands

Employees are regularly required to talk and hear, and to sit for extended periods while driving. The role may involve standing, walking, bending, and climbing to inspect and secure loads. Lifting up to 50 pounds is frequent; heavier items may require assistance. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Night vision is beneficial for after-hours driving.
