JOB TITLE:
Warehouse 1 Crane Operator - Distribution Center
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Crane Operators are warehouse material handlers that perform movement of material by utilizing a bridge crane and/or forklift as needed. This position reports directly to the Distribution Supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Handling of structural steel material unloading trucks, stocking, transferring, and loading of trucks utilizing a dual hoist bridge crane or standard forklift. Bridge cranes are 10-to-20-ton capacity and forklifts are 5K to 8K capacity, propane sit down lifts. Perform daily inspection of Crane, pendulum control unit, wire ropes and other accessory equipment. Immediately report all deficiencies found and unusual noises and/or difficulties in operation of the equipment. Identify material to be placed into production, verifying correct tag and heat numbers. Determine weight of material and utilize crane with the appropriate capacity. Assist and/or direct riggers in properly securing material on crane before moving material. Always be Aware of activity/co-workers in the area to ensure the safety of all. Advise all co-workers in the area before movement of material on overhead crane. Follow all company policy procedures and be vigilant in watching for potential risks in the area and notify management of deficiencies identified. Attend all training and safety meetings as directed. Assist with stock checks and physical counts as directed. Perform daily housekeeping and organization of assigned areas. Perform other tasks as directed. Assist in training co-workers as requested.
