Project Accountant
Project Financial Management
- Manage and track project budgets, ensuring all costs are accurately allocated.
- Develop and maintain financial models to forecast project costs and revenue.
- Conduct regular financial analysis of project performance, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
Data-Driven Insights & Reporting
- Design and create dashboards and reports that provide real-time visibility into project financial health for stakeholders.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, concise presentations for project managers and senior leadership.
- Regularly analyze project performance against baselines and historical data to identify areas for operational efficiency and cost savings.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Generate and present financial reports on project profitability, cash flow, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Analyze project data to provide actionable insights that help improve future project profitability.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal financial controls.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with project managers, sales, and senior leadership to ensure a clear understanding of project finances.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related financial inquiries.
- Assist in project audits and provide necessary documentation.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve project accounting processes and systems.
- Assist with the implementation and optimization of accounting software and project management tools.
Other Skills & Abilities
- Experience in the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CIA).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge of and experience with project management methodologies.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in project accounting or a similar role.
- Proven experience with project-based accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and project accounting principles.
- Proficiency with enterprise accounting software (e.g., Sage, TMF, Power BI) and project management tools.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Certifications and Licenses
- Professional certification may be required in some areas.
Physical Requirements
- Talking, hearing and using hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components
- Sitting for extended periods of time
