Teacher Assistant

Position Purpose:

The Teaching Assistants assist the Lead Teacher in implementing classroom activities, providing a safe learning environment and maintaining classroom routine. This individual must display a love for teaching and nurturing young children.

Major Responsibilities:

* Implement daily activities in the areas of cognitive, speech and language, fine motor, gross motor, self-help, social emotional and behavior management

* Assist in the documentation of the child’s skills in relation to the IFSP goals

* Maintain a clean, sanitary environment

* Assist teacher and classroom staff in setting up the classroom

* Clean and store toys and equipment at the close of the session

* Participate in required training prior to and during employment

* Providing a positive, nurturing environment for all children

* Attend All-Staff and PDL meetings

* Perform other duties as assigned

* ADHERE TO AND FOLLOW

The By-Laws of the Corporation and as set forth in the Articles of Incorporation

Job Qualifications and Competencies:

Job Qualifications

Indicate the minimum required education and years of experience. Include any required licenses or certificates.

Education and Experience:

A minimum of a GED with knowledge of early childhood development; an understanding of children’s developmental milestones; and a minimum of one-year experience caring for one or more young children.

* Maintain and abides by OSHA requirements and guidelines

* Observes all Fire and Safety Policies and Procedures

* Observes all Fiscal/Office/ HR Personnel Policies and Procedures

* Observes all HIPAA Policies and Procedures and maintains confidentiality

* Attends all required and scheduled trainings and meetings

* Always maintain a professional demeanor and exercise good judgement in all areas of employment duties

Equipment/Machines:

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:

* Current driver’s license, driver registration and a functional vehicle

EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS:

* Telephone: Cellular - Multi-line, Calculator, Copier, Fax, Computer

COMPUTER SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS:

* Has knowledge of each program

* Knowledge of Office software programs

Physical Demands:

* Individual must be able to meet physical requirements of the job:

* Sitting at a meeting table or desk – Reaching – Lifting – Bending – Standing – Stooping – Twisting - Climbing steps - Driving a vehicle

* Environment(s) is modern, well-lit office facilities in multiple locations

* Multiple levels of stairs with access by elevator

Hourly Pay: $13.00

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8a-2:30p, Friday 8a-12p (Full-time)
