Job Summary: The school social worker helps to support the emotional, social and academic well-being of students. They provide individual and group counseling to students dealing with a variety of personal issues and help them develop coping skills to manage these challenges. They work with teachers, parents and administrators to develop individualized plans that help students succeed in school. The school social worker is integral to creating a safe and supportive school environment, helping students succeed academically along with developing the emotional and social skills needed to thrive in life.

Compensation: Per the MDMEA Agreement ($49,755 to $89,405) Commensurate with experience

Required Qualifications:
- Master of Social Work
- State approval as a school social worker
- Licensed Master of Social Work
- Experience with school-age students
- Support general education students and students with all types of disabilities
- Development of functional behavior assessments and behavior plans
- Support to parents and teachers of students with above disabilities
- Evaluation of students suspected of having an emotional impairment
- Support school based Positive Behavior Intervention & Support system
- Collect and analyze behavior data
- This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking
- The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the day
- Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools or field trip locations
