Deep Blue Retina is seeking a strong, professional, confident Optometrist with an entrepreneurial mindset, and interest in working in a team setting in complex medical ophthalmic conditions and ophthalmic research. *We have locations in East Memphis as well as Southaven, MS. *

*About Us:*

Deep Blue Retina is a clinic created in the Midsouth that specializes in the treatment of retinal disorders and surgery. Our research department collaborates with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in developing new treatments for retinal diseases.

*As our Optometrist you will . . .*

* Provide medical eye examinations in retinal diseases and degenerations.
* Collaborate in a team approach with the retinal specialist in the management of medical retinal disorders.
* Perform postoperative follow up eye examinations after vitreoretinal surgeries and retinal lasers.
* Provide comprehensive eye exams and manage a variety of anterior and posterior ocular diseases as necessary in the support of our retina clinic.
* Coordinate medical care of ophthalmic conditions with our ophthalmic surgeons and community subspecialists.
* Provide refractive eye examinations, when necessary, in the management of retinal diseases.
* Prescribe medications to treat ocular diseases and disorders.
* Perform pre- and post-operation examinations.
* Serve as a sub-investigator to our clinical research trials.
* Serve as a liaison with the optometric referring doctor community in our region.

*Success in this position will require . . .*

* Doctorate in optometry.
* License to practice optometry in the states of Mississippi and Tennessee.
* Outstanding clinical knowledge of medical eye conditions through either completion of one-year residency in ocular disease and/or significant experience working in ophthalmology clinics focused on medical diseases.
* Experience in retinal disease highly preferred.
* Expertise in retinal and optic nerve diagnostic imaging and functional testing.
* Proficiency in management of glaucoma.
* Ability to listen and communicate in a friendly manner with patients of all ages and needs.
* Ability to think logically and strategically and apply deductive reasoning to problem solve and analyze possible causes of patient discomfort or vision issues.
* An entrepreneurial mindset and demonstrated capacity to help build our practice.
* Ability to work within a team comprised of specialist ophthalmologists and research optometrists.
* Capacity to serve as a team leader in clinic, particularly when the retinal surgeon is in the operating room or outside of the office.
* Maintain adequate patient records with a strong attention to detail.
* Obtaining all certifications required by our clinical research sponsors to actively participate in research trials.
* Experience in clinical research is highly desirable.
