Job Summary This intermediate-level position involves independently creating and managing geospatial data, performing spatial analysis, generating maps and reports to support land, production, and operational teams.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Independently edit, maintain, and validate operational geospatial datasets, including wells, leases, pipelines, and other upstream assets
Perform spatial analysis to support business decisions, such as proximity checks, buffering, overlays, and network analysis
Integrate geospatial data with production, land, regulatory, and operational datasets
Generate maps, visualizations, and dashboards for operational teams using ArcGIS Pro / Desktop
Ensure data quality and adherence to governance standards, identifying and correcting errors or inconsistencies
Collaborate cross-functionally with land, operations, production, and regulatory teams to understand GIS needs and provide solutions
Document GIS workflows, processes, and metadata to improve departmental standards
Support ad hoc GIS projects with increasing complexity and independence
Job Specific Skills
Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro / Desktop, including intermediate cartography and spatial analysis. Experience with either ArcGIS Experience Builder, ArcGIS Enterprise / Portal, or ModelBuilder is a plus
GIS experience in oil and gas, energy, or natural resources. Lease and Unit Mapping experience is a plus
Experience managing geodatabases (file or enterprise) and performing data quality validation
Knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, and O&G-specific datasets
Experience performing spatial analysis to support operational decision-making
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams
Education Minimum: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor's degree - from accredited university - Geographic Information Systems or related field
Experience Minimum: 2 - 5 years related work experience
