Reports To: Warehouse Manager
Function:
- Responsible for transporting goods from our warehouses to customer locations safely and efficiently.
- Perform pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, checking that all materials in the truck are safely secured for transport and assist customers in unloading processes at their locations.
- Follow appropriate safety procedures to transport cargo and maintain logs of vehicle repair status and working hours as required.
Responsibilities:
- Comply with ICC and DOT regulations and always make safety a priority.
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions.
- Ensure excellent customer service by making timely and accurate deliveries and assisting customers.
- Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle.
- Ensure contents are properly secured in truck, to prevent damage/injury.
- Plan and execute driving routes. Communicate with dispatch as needed.
- Confirm that the contents of each delivery match the delivery ticket and obtain signatures to confirm deliveries.
- Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip.
- Notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered. Keep vehicle clean.
- Follow the delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times. Track and report working hours.
- Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs if required.
- Adhere to company rules and regulations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL Class A) required.
- 2+ years proven experience in commercial truck driving preferred.
- Clean driving record with no moving violations.
- Must pass a background check and drug test.
- Skilled at driving, backing and parking large, commercial vehicles.
- Alert, focused, and detail-oriented, able to work in varying weather conditions.
- Physically and mentally fit. Good communications skills with a wide range of people.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. at a time.
- Possess physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts.
- Map reading, GPS and route planning experience.
- Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team.
- Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful.
- High level of composure and ability to deal with stressful situations.
