General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be requested to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in all duties.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet Customers and acknowledge Associates using company recognition programs.
  • Assist Customers as needed—register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet Customers throughout the Store and say thank you during transactions.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers; respond to Service calls and escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high-touch areas).
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store and efficient merchandising per standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines and maintain brand-name familiarity to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs, the Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise; demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions.
  • Follow MOS policies for identification, processing, and disposal of MOS merchandise; maintain awareness and accuracy with cash, checks, card transactions, and refunds.
  • Demonstrate urgency to perform duties and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required. Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Ability to lift more than 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies. Some assignments may require working in Stockroom with the ability to push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $14.81 - $15.31, dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. Other rewards vary by position and location. Benefits offered include various insurance programs, associate discounts and purchases, retirement plans, and other leave and wellness programs. Some positions may be eligible for bonuses based on performance.
