Overview
Data Analyst position at North Carolina State University.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning, validating, and processing geospatial datasets.
- Writing code for, interpreting, and visualizing the results of statistical, machine learning, and process-based models.
- Conducting research, literature review, and information synthesis to evaluate data providers and data products.
- Documenting and presenting methods, models, and results to support open science, reproducibility, and data provenance.
- Contributing to the design and implementation of systems models related to regional planning, land use, and transportation.
- Meeting regularly with the program team.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree in city and regional planning, geospatial data science, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
Department Required Skills
Basic familiarity and prior experience with R and/or Python. Moderate experience with statistical regression and machine learning methods. Strong familiarity with GIS, geospatial data, and geospatial methods.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Familiarity with data management best practices. Experience with transportation modeling and/or other forms of systems modeling. Basic familiarity or prior experience in the fields of city and regional planning, transportation modeling, and/or systems modeling. Recommended experience of at least two years of applied geospatial problem solving (could be a master’s degree or professional work experience).
