SECURITY GUARD
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer
Department: Operations Security
Status: Part Time: 2-3 days per week(Evenings as needed/Special events)
Job Summary
The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all museum occupantsincluding employees, volunteers, and visitorsby patrolling the premises, monitoring activity, responding to incidents, and deterring potential illicit behavior.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Positively promote the culture and brand of LCM and project a positive image of the organization to employees, volunteers, visitors/guests, and the community.
- Patrol on foot and monitor assigned areas including parking lots and grounds, report suspicious activities to local authorities.
- Utilizing security cameras, alarm systems, and other technologies to monitor activity and detect potential issues.
- Investigate reports of suspicious activity on the property.
- Documenting security-related incidents, observations, and activities in reports.
- Aiding employees, volunteers, visitors, and other individuals while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor (this could include responding to and deescalate incidents deterring potential illicit activity).
- Enforcing rules and regulations related to safety and security, potentially including detaining individuals or issuing warnings for policy violations.
- Escort discharged staff, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises.
- Contact law enforcement/medical entities in case of an emergency.
- After business hours, check doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of Security Guard experience.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use security systems, surveillance equipment, and reporting software.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate authoritatively with individuals, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
- Understand general security protocols, safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
- Ability to learn and navigate the layout of the property and building.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to identify potential security threats and suspicious activity.
- Physically capable of restraining individuals, when necessary, in accordance with safety protocols and legal guidelines.
- Ability to perform tasks such as patrolling, accessing areas quickly, standing for extended periods, and potentially assisting in emergencies.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
