Job Description

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is currently looking for a talented graphic designer experienced in both print and digital media. As part of our collaborative team, you will contribute to creating informative, engaging, and enjoyable marketing experiences in support of recruitment, retention, outreach and development communications. We need someone who can design within the ASU brand, utilizing their skills to craft compelling infographics, layouts, and other designs that tell a captivating story.

This position is located on ASU's Tempe campus and provides opportunities for remote work (up to 2 days a week) after the initial onboarding period.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 per year; DOE

  • Designing printed and digital materials for a wide range of communications, publications, displays, and other media formats, always adhering to appropriate standards.
  • Supports college departments and units by creating effective marketing materials and supporting a wide variety of events, programs and promotions.
  • Creating visualizations that effectively convey compelling and helpful messages for both internal and external audiences.
  • Work effectively with individuals and teams; utilize excellent communication and organization skills; provide and recommend effective design and marketing solutions and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Manage jobs in progress, procure bids for work product, resolve technical issues, and proof materials to ensure quality and deadlines are met.
  • Participate in strategy and brainstorming creative ideas or plans; research design trends.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrable expertise in graphic design and layout, particularly in transforming messages into impactful visuals and metaphorical representations for infographics.
  • A deep understanding of design thinking principles, user-centric design, and the ability to translate the audience's needs into visually appealing and well-organized content to help our future and current students.
  • Collaboration with fellow team members to explore innovative approaches for creating more expressive graphics and the ability to bring new ideas to the table.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as Microsoft Suite applications like PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with Google Docs is also essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration.
  • Openness to receiving and incorporating constructive criticism from peers and stakeholders to continuously improve your work.
  • Excellent time management skills, ensuring projects are completed promptly while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Proactive in staying updated on technical advancements within the field to optimize productivity and design processes.
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
