Job overview

As the Business Analyst / Business Analyst II / Sr. Business Analyst, you will help oversee the financial and strategic performance of the entire R&D portfolio. The role requires strong interpersonal and communications skills, developed analytical abilities, and a self-driven mindset. Reporting to the Director of Innovation, this position offers an opportunity to shape New York’s energy landscape and contribute to transformative solutions that accelerate the transition to a sustainable, resilient energy system.

Primary responsibilities

• Develop presentation materials for internal and external communications to support the Director of Innovation.
• Collect and aggregate input for annual NYSERDA regulatory and internal reporting.
• Prepare and analyze integrated R&D budgets across the portfolio.
• Interface with NYSERDA’s Finance department to align budget numbers and projected expenditures.
• Coordinate with other program areas to incorporate research results, including renewable energy technologies, into their designated program areas.
• Perform other responsibilities as needed and prioritize multiple workstreams.

Minimum qualifications

• Business Analyst (78,333 - 131,298): Bachelor's degree with 4 years’ experience
• Business Analyst II (93,659 - 131,298): Bachelor's degree with 5 years’ experience
• Senior Business Analyst (115,283 - 145,682): Bachelor's degree with 7 years’ experience
• Experience in operations, business, or data-centric roles with process and operational improvements, including supervisory experience
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (data science, engineering, business administration, accounting, etc.)
• Awareness of trends and reliable information sources for measuring performance in the innovation sector
• Experience in business analysis, requirements documentation, and process mapping
• Experience with project management methods, processes, standards, and tools
• Ability to manage multiple activities with speed, accuracy, and good judgment
• Self-starter who can work independently and in teams
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
• Advanced software skills in Visio; ASANA; and Oracle preferred

Preferred qualifications

• Business Analyst: Master’s degree with 2 years’ experience
• Business Analyst II: Master’s degree with 3 years’ experience
• Senior Business Analyst: Master’s degree with 6 years’ experience
• Master’s degree in related disciplines considered; software skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and SharePoint), Salesforce, and Tableau
