Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable CDL Instructor to prepare students for a successful career in the transportation industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial driving, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to fostering safe and skilled professional drivers. The CDL Instructor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive classroom instruction and hands-on training to prepare students for their Commercial Driver's License exams and careers as professional drivers.
Qualifications:
Valid Class A CDL or Class B CDL with ability to obtain Class A and a clean driving record. North Dakota teaching certification or willingness to obtain. Minimum of 3-5 years of professional commercial driving experience preferred. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle operation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

Teach students the foundational knowledge and skills required for obtaining a CDL, including federal and state regulations, vehicle operation, and safety standards. Provide both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training, focusing on proper vehicle handling, inspection procedures, and compliance with transportation laws. Prepare students for written, skills, and road tests required for CDL certification. Provide personalized feedback and support to help students overcome challenges and achieve mastery of driving techniques. Safety Emphasis:
Promote the importance of safety in all aspects of commercial driving, including load management, defensive driving, and accident prevention. Ensure all training activities comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and other regulatory requirements. Equipment Management:
Maintain training vehicles in good working order by performing basic inspections and coordinating repairs as needed. Ensure students are trained to conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, as required by DOT regulations. Program Development:
Develop and update lesson plans, training materials, and instructional methods to meet evolving industry standards and student needs. Stay informed about changes in CDL requirements, industry practices, and advancements in commercial vehicle technology. Recordkeeping and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance. Submit required reports to administrative staff and comply with all institutional and regulatory guidelines.
